ditriech brings up one movie that had better be great, or it will break the hearts of little boys who grew up to be Nortonians.
Let’s play Good News / Bad News:
BN: First thing I said was “the CGI looks weird.” Which can end this kind of movie.
GN: Turns out that’s because it’s a new mixed-animation technique. Everything is part-CG. So it might be ground-breaking and awesome.
BN: Turns out that’s because it’s a new mixed-animation technique. Everything is part-CG. So it might be horrible. And destroy everyone involved.
GN: Neil Gaiman wrote the script!
GGN: He wasn’t even hired. He wrote it because he wanted to!
BN: “… it came off like the cast of Tron doing bad Shakespeare.”
But! It looks like they might have the tone down. It’s a fractured story, so they HAVE to make up new plot to fill it in. You can trust Neil to do that right. And they’ve got a great cast. If they get the story, and let it be exotic, and let it speak for itself … this should be hard to fuck up. Then again … let’s all remember how badly Hollywood can fuck anything up.
